Welcome to ÆTHΞRIΛ (or "ATHERIA"), a 100% free, inclusive, next-generation Roleplay SⵖSTΞM (RPS) designed to act as a fully scalable, multiversal sandbox.

Whether you want a quiet place in existence to roleplay on your own or with a group of friends or a re-enactment of a story in an existing series but with possibly different outcomes, or be part of the massive multiversal roleplay space where anything and everything can happen, We provide the logic, the mediation, and the physics engine; you provide the story. While we plan to utilize stats, our RPS focuses more on story, adventure, and character interactions to keep roleplay fun, interesting, and critically challenge Players instead of numbers for power. The best part is that you get to choose where to go, what happens, and can influence nearly everything in our RPS!

Features

Why Roleplay in ÆTHΞRIΛ?

Standard roleplay is plagued by arguments, conflicting rules, and stagnation. We built a framework to solve the biggest problems of other roleplays:

Canon & Fanon Standardization: Play original characters or established IP characters under one unified, fair logic system.
Dynamic Mediation: Dedicated mediators (called "RLOs") step in to moderate scenarios, generate environmental challenges, and provide special effects to keep roleplays going.
Automated Statistics: Planned real-time, coordinated progression tracking via our backend.
A Contributor Economy: In-progress setup of a Bounty Board for taking gigs to earn money, Kredits, and unlock perks while helping us shape the Digiverse. This is part of our ambitious attempt to create new jobs and introduce a different kind of market.

Structure

ATHERIA is organized into two hierarchies:

Government: The backend governance. This encompasses the business, systemic oversight, and staff operations that allow the service of roleplay going and the logic consistent.
S🝕ⵎIΞTⵖ: The active, front-facing roleplay space. The S🝕ⵎIΞTⵖ is designed to be autonomous, allowing participants to self-organize, form their own governments, and govern their own interconnected worlds.

SOCIETAL Terminology

You

Understanding how you interface with the RPS is crucial. We define presence through four specific classifications:

ⳘSΞR: You. The physical person sitting behind the screen, connected to THE NET.
Player: A ⳘSΞR who actively participates in the roleplay ecosystems and narrative events.
Avatar: Your canonical, in-RPS representative. Your Avatar acts as the digital "housing unit" for all of your individual roleplay characters. Furthermore, your Avatar is a playable entity in its own right and can be roleplayed directly within the overarching S🝕ⵎIΞTⵖ layer.
Character: The in-RPS entity a Player roleplays as.

Staff

For roleplay, we have one important role you will want to remember:

(Roleplay) Operator (RLO): An Admin that is similar to Dungeon Masters, but represents existence itself. They mediate roleplays to ensure logical actions and help keep roleplays going, acting as special effects (sfx) for RPs.

Mechanics

Categorization

ATHERIA has a defined system of categorization for roleplays to keep things organized and trackable.

Plot: Defines if the plot is Canon, Fanon, Freeplay, or a combination (Roleplay Categorization - Plot).
Setting: Defines if the setting is Canon, Fanon, or a combination (Roleplay Categorization - Setting).
Form: Define how outcomes are decided; Informal, Fate (Dice-driven mechanics), Logical (mediated), or combination (Roleplay Categorization - Form).
Mode: Define the genre of the scenario; Adventure, Combat, Mystery, Slice of Life, or combination (Roleplay Categorization - Mode).

Standardization

ATHERIA also has a clear and concise definition of canon and fanon works for a SⵖSTΞM by separting lore into three distinct layers to prevent inconsistencies. We are the first RPS to create this standard.

SYSTEM Level: Base, absolute laws, history, and reality (Standardization - SYSTEM Level)
FRANCHISE Level: Integrated Intellectual Properties (IPs) that utilize their source material definition of things; but may be patched for SYSTEM logic (Standardization - FRANCHISE Level)
AVATAR Level: Personal Avatar and Character lore, history, etc that you define. (Standardization - AVATAR Level)

Lore

Races

The Digiverse is populated by a diverse array of life. From the high-status iDOLs operating within the upper echelons of the S🝕ⵎIΞTⵖ to those familiar to you from existing series, or those unknown, the Multiverse is alive.

AITHIR - ATHERIA's home race of mysterious beings from ÆTHΞR.
iDOL - High-status set of entities within the S🝕ⵎIΞTⵖ. They may seem a bit familiar!
Human - A well-known race of creatures that inhabit the planet Earth.
Mobian - Possibly once humans, a race of anthropomorphic creatures that hail from Mobius.
Lovarian - White and slender entities with large black eyes from the planet Lovar.
SJOKAN (Shoukan) - Humans of another world in another time from the planet E̲-̲I̲-̲O̲R̲I̲Y̲̅A̲̅.

AKOZIAN - Beings that look remarkably similar to humans that are from the world of AKOZ.
