In the framework of the 2023 call for proposals of the Erasmus+ programme under the action "Accredited mobility projects for pupils and school teaching staff " , our application was accepted on 06/06/2023 .
Our project: 2023-1-FR01-KA121-SCH-000121178 included the project "etwinning A tale of three countries" our school partnership with 8th primary school P.Faliro , Athens Greece and Montessori Skanör - Falsterbo , Sweden .
We decided to take advantage of the opportunity for the students of School Les hibiscus René Verdier school in Martinique to go to Greece and Sweden and we organized ourselves taking by considering:
- the capacity of the Montessori school in Sweden (a maximum of 10 students was suggested by our partenaire .)
- the reduction of mobilities suggested by the French National Agency (14 pupils instead of 25 initially planned), we decided that 7 pupils would go to Greece and the other 7 to Sweden.
This is how we decided to work on a common story , "The tale of three countries" (realized and shared on a google presentation ) , written collaboratively with the students of each school (each school should write a part )
The students of Martinique would be "the relay " between the two other countries , and would be welcomed in Greece (In April ) to realize with their pen-pals a paper comic book , which they would bring back to Sweden (In May) . From this comic strip, the other group of students from Martinique would be welcomed in Sweden to make a stop motion animated film.
The finalization of this project and the mobilities were prepared in close collaboration with the partners.
We decided together , the coordinators of the project, about the programme of activities in the schools in line with the objectives of the project and the curriculum of the schools . It was a question of judiciously balancing the activities of discovery and of opening to the cultures of the European countries, to develop the competences of the pupils in all the fields of the school , in particular the languages (English ), the arts (of the comic strip), the literature (myths and legends),use technologies.
At school we have decided (in Martinique) to concentrate our efforts on opening our students to Europe. We have first dedicated a specific discovery journey to them through a common “book creator” entitled What is the European Union? (inspired by the online tools of the European Union, supplemented by games and questionnaires ).
Secondly , we have prepared our students for this opening to Europe by starting the year with the ERASMUS DAYS in October 2023 .( you can see the event on the Next page )
The municipal staff helped the students to make garlands, flags to set up the school and make it more beautiful and welcoming. All classes participated in the event, by learning and presenting common songs and dances to celebrate Greece and Sweden which facilitated student mobilization in the project .
Regular meetings from October 2023 to April 2024 with parents were held , to involve the parents of the students who were going to trvel and to explain to them the very details of trips, the accommodation in our host countries . Pupils also needed to know more about the school area , as well bout the schedule of the weeks in the partner countries and schools .
We closely accompany the parents and the children for departures and to prepare all authorizations to leave the territory.
The pupils needed to be prepared , and twice a week during lunchtime we discussed a lot , and pupils could exchange about their waitings , their fears... It was also time to speak some English .
22-26 April Mobility to Greece.
Our school was thrilled to welcome and host our project partners from Martinique for one week. Seven students and two teachers travelled to our country and carried out several tasks, the main one being the creation of our common comic -book.
Here is a presentation of the activities we carried out.
And the comic book
Finally compiled by Martinique.
Our second partner school, SkanorFalsterbo Montessori Skola, gave us a warm welcome this week.
Because of our Erasmus project and accreditation and months of preparation , we were finally able to meet our friends, with whom we shared some very enriching moments, and we formed a great team that was able to cooperate with its partners and pool its talents to make this project a success.
The final stage of our project saw the production of 3 animated films based on the comic strip created during our visit to Greece in April .
We would like to thank the two schools with whom we worked hand in hand to carry out this project, which was a wonderful experience.
For our seven students, mobilities to these two countries is a wonderful opportunity to open up to Europe and its cultural diversity, specially for them who live overseas. They could know other countries , school systems , meet their pen pals with whom they've worked for year and make new friends...
