My humble beginning starts within the entrepreneurial and freelancer spaces where I was able to grow my technical skills in digital marketing and both graphic and web design.
Early on, I developed a deep passion for building brands and businesses from the ground up. Not only was it a source of income, but also a creative outlet of mine. My favorite ideas that brewed in my head would eventually be realized with a website and, in some cases, a full blown prototyping project. Let’s just say it was an expensive, but fulfilling, hobby of mine that I was able to monetize. However, good things tend to die young; and when more established businesses began developing their eCommerce presences, they were able to blow my offerings out of the digital water.
Currently, I am focused on applying the knowledge I have gained in my past to help grow a local jewelry retail chain, and adapt it to the digital age, by serving as a cross-functional digital marketing and operations specialist. By leveraging my experience in tactfully researching and communicating with foreign suppliers and online freelancers, then coupling it with my proficiency in creating digital media, I was able to, among other things, dramatically reduce their stores’ operating costs, especially in the custom jewelry-making process. Also, after spending some time analyzing data regarding customer queries and current market trends, I was able to ideate and manage the creation of a new product category, smart watch accessories. In short, I have learned how to apply many of the skills I've developed and learned throughout my life.
Along with being employed full time, I enrolled myself into a Technical Project Management boot camp style course under UC Irvine’s Continuing Education department. I believe this course will be integral in the next chapter of my life while keeping me on the cutting edge of technology and SDLC processes. Although my experience involves a very traditional industry, jewelry, I believe technology will inevitably play a role in every industry in some shape or form, so I’m glad I can bolster my skills to include managing technical or digital projects.
My personal and professional experiences have taught me that I am…
1. A lifelong entrepreneur and problem solving wizard.
2. Passionate about creating high-quality, aesthetically pleasing products and designs that don’t sacrifice user value for looks.
3. A great communicator that loves to embolden others because of my belief that a team maximizes its output when all members share each other’s levels of courage and aptitude.
