In 2018, I actively participated in the World Earth Day celebration organized by the CUSS Club at the University of Chittagong campus. This event was centered around raising awareness about critical environmental issues such as pollution, global warming, and the need for sustainable living. As part of the celebration, we engaged in a campus-wide cleanup, reinforcing our commitment to protecting the Earth and promoting environmental stewardship within our community.
I had the privilege of participating in the two-day Hill Tract River Conservation Conference held on April 19-20, 2019, at the Hill View Convention Center in Bandarban. Organized by the Bangladesh River Conservation Commission, this conference was dedicated to exploring the condition of rivers in the hilly regions of Bangladesh and raising awareness about the vital importance of these rivers to our lives. The event brought together experts, activists, and community members to discuss strategies for preserving these crucial waterways and ensuring their sustainable management.
In 2019, I had the opportunity to celebrate National Fisheries Week, organized by the Department of Fisheries. As part of the festivities, I actively participated in releasing fish fry into the ponds on our University of Chittagong campus, contributing to the promotion of sustainable fisheries practices. Additionally, I took part in the district fisheries fair, where our team proudly won the first prize, showcasing our dedication and excellence in advancing fisheries and aquaculture. This event not only highlighted the importance of fisheries in our community but also underscored our collective efforts toward its sustainable development.
In 2019, I was an active member of the Ocean Literature Campaign in Bangladesh, a program dedicated to raising awareness among school-going students about the vital importance of our oceans. Guided by our main instructor, Dr. Muslem Uddin Munna, Professor of Oceanography at the University of Chittagong, we engaged with students to educate them on marine conservation, the role of oceans in sustaining our ecosystem, and the urgent need for sustainable practices. We also introduced concepts such as global warming and climate change, discussing mitigation measures to address the challenges of climate change and sea-level rise on coastal communities. This campaign was a deeply rewarding experience, contributing to the broader mission of instilling a sense of responsibility for ocean preservation in the next generation.
