We learned about the states of matter and how we interact with them. Then we made Oobleck!
We are also learning how to utilize the Scientific Method to solve our scientific questions.
October 11, 2019: Let's Make Ice Cream!
Materials:Ice Cubes2 cup whole milk1/2 cup Kosher salt4 tablespoons sugar1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract1 small-size ziplock bag1 large-size ziplock bag Procedure:Step 1: Prepare the large-size ziplock bag -fill it about ¼ of ice cubes -add ½ a cup of Kosher saltStep 2: Mix your ingredients in the small-size ziplock bag -add 4 tablespoons of sugar (depends how how sweet you want), ½ a tablespoon of vanilla extract and 2 cups of whole milk (or half and half) -take out ALL of the air and zip the bag closedStep 3: Carefully place the small-size ziplock bag inside the large-size ziplock bag -take out ALL of the air and sip the bag closedStep 4: Shake the bag CAREFULLY for 10 minutes -take turns shaking with your partner -make sure the bags stay closed or you will make a mess or even have SALTY ice cream -We found that sometimes the bag needs to be shaken for longer than 10 minutes so adjust the time as necessaryStep 5: EAT AND ENJOY!!!! -please be respectful and clean up after yourself
