understand the underline principles and make them proficient in the field of
astrology.

Hindus believe that history of astrology begins with creation itself.
Sage Garg says that the knowledge was propounded by the creator himself and
that Brahma handed in down to him at the time of creation.
From Garg other sages got it and this knowledge spread all over.
The earliest recorded use of astrology in India came to limelight during
vedic period (1500 BCE to 600 BCE).
It is listed as vedang a branch of Veda.
The earliest treatise on jyotish "The Bhrigu Samhita" was compiled by Bhrigu rishi
during Vedic period.
The documented history of jyotish with reference to horoscopic astrology is
associated with the interaction of Indian and Hellenistic cultures.
The oldest treatise in Sanskrit is Yavanjatka (2nd century A.D).
The famous work of Brihatsamhita was compiled by Varahmihir in 505 A.D and has
been confirmed by Al-Biruni who came to India in1030 A.D.
The popular Krishna Murthy Paddhti came into being in 1971 and Lal Kitab in
1939 by Pt.Roop Chand Joshi.
