Active Shooter Tracking & Evacuation Routing for Survival (ASTERS)

ASTERS Overview

ASTERS is an NSF-funded joint project being worked on by both the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Iowa State University. Our team aspires to create a smart egress system to be used for school shooter emergencies. This system intends to track the shooter's location throughout the building, and dynamically update the safest egress plan for each classroom based on this position. We will then communicate this route to the classrooms in a smart, intuitive fashion to ensure optimal speed and ease of use. We ultimately hope our system will be utilized in schools across the nation.
