This analysis sheet is given to us to score out the competitiveness of tourist attraction from a scale of 0 to 3, 0 being not available and 3 being strong.
With this analysis sheet we can indicate which points are strong based on our site visit. For example we have given 2 on accessibility which indicates that this factor is moderate and requires a few improvements to make it a 3.
This allows us to easily identify the weakness as well as the strong points of Tasik Biru being a good tourist attraction in this modern age.

We gave Tasik Biru a score of 2 out of 3 for accessibility because of how much we see public transports such as busses, grab shuttles, as well as maxim. This effectively shows that Tasik Biru in terms of accessibility for tourist is very good. While this is the case, it doesn't prove the same for local tourist. The limited parking space for local tourist who bring their respective vehicles are forced to park beside the road causing major traffic problems around Tasik Biru.
Other than that, the access road for Tasik Biru is quite direct as multiple sign exist to guide tourist who is not buying a tour package to be able to navigate here on their own. This offers tourist an easy guide towards this place.
The major reason why we deducted 1 mark for accessibility is because of the lack of jetty placed around Tasik Biru. Tasik Biru offers boat riding and with only one jetty place at the entrance, this makes entering Tasik Biru through boat riding hard or maybe impossible at this point unless they build more jetty.

The visitor numbers are incredible and unexpected. This is proven when we arrived there around 10 in the morning and there is a group of tourist that came from Kalimantan where’s it does near from Tasik Biru and Kalimantan is the border between Malaysia and Indonesia. The first picture does showing about it and they also have trade line which is written at the banner “Tour Kuching, Trip Desember 2024”.
Not only that, when we are doing hiking we also meet some other groups of tourist that exploring just like us and we are back to the where we started, we saw more amount of tourists are coming. Not only local, the tourist from Indonesia can be say more amount than local one.
From this we can see that Tasik Biru receive a lot of tourists and this is amazing because we don’t expect the numbers of tourist are this big.

Just as soon as we arrived, the first thing we are looking for around us was a merchandise shop or just a stall but we are unable to find one. There is no stall that is selling anything as keychain or totebag as merchandise.
There’s only a entrance counter and a small stall that sell ice cream, drinks and snacks only. It is only a counter to pay for any activity that available such as boat ride and pedal boat for the tourists activity.
The entrance fee also affordable as for boat ride it cost us RM10/person and walk across the lake using the floating bridge that also cost RM10/person but they will give you 2 cans of soft drinks for each person.
This quite disappointing because they doesn’t have merchandise for the tourists at least to keep something about Tasik Biru that they visited.

The only toilet we found in Tasik Biru
The infrastructure and facilities are not really good. When you are arrive after crossing the lake, we find out that they only have one toilet and what make us shocked was it is shared. This mean that one toilet are can be use for both gender male and female and there is only one toilet.
This is quite unsanitary because imagine if there’s two tourist that is urgently needing to use the toilet and one of them have no other way but wait for the other one until it done with their matter inside the toilet. This not only gives a bad image to Tasik Biru but it will also effect the cleanliness of the place.
When we are half way through hiking, there is actually a resting area before we reach the top, it serves as a resting spot for hikers before they reach their final destination. The place are looked abandoned with the dry leafs around, the table and chairs are unarranged also with dusts also some tiny rubbish.
We walk around and found a quiet two hidden toilets that we can say it never be cleaned or care because that toilets are full withrubbish even we are refuse to use or even use it.

As times goes by, Tasik Biru which was once a favored tourist destination is now a tourist destination with little things to do. Due to its lacking innovative approaches to make Tasik Biru stand out, the promotion and marketing for this place begins to fade and here is why.
The marketing and promotion for Tasik Biru are hard to find and even we rarely saw articles or posts randomly pop up in social media such as Facebook, Instagram unless we are find it by ourselves by typing “Tasik Biru Sarawak” on the search. The post are not getting many supports even from the locals, only few of them.
This might due to the less awareness about interesting place that can be find in Sarawak such as Tasik Biru. This poor marketing and promotion might be reason if one day the visitor that come to Tasik Biru are decreasing because no one or no supports from locals that promote about this place to people out their.
If they are not making this seriously, Tasik Biru might hard to get new customers because without new customers especially they that are not purely from Sarawak, this cannot help to spread about this interesting place.

When we search about Tasik Biru in Google, we find out the rating and reviews are not really good since they only got 3.5 stars out of 5. We also cannot find a lot of comments because what they have only from last year or past few years only, there is none from 2024. This can be the reason the tourists are not confident to come because they aren’t sure about the place and doesn’t have much information from people that ever come there to attarct people who read it include when they read about bad comments about rubbish at the place are how poor the facilities are.

The example of environmental sustainability is the amount of carrying capacity that a tourist destination can accepted. This was not the case for Tasik Biru because its doesn't limit the amount of tourist. At some point the place will be crowded.
As to committed to environmental sustainability, the only thing that we can see was an iron sculpture made from recycled materials as shown in the diagram above. This sculpture are actually made from cargo crane hook. This seems as a very good and interesting idea since it is using the item back instead of throwing it and it will effect our environment. Cargo crane hook are type of item that takes a long time to dispose so this idea of 3R “Reuse, Reduce, Recycle” are actually work and at the same time this can catch the tourist’s attention.
Its only receive only one score because we didn’t see anything such as solar panel that can show they are using the renewable energy even they have a big lake that will be able to apply hydropower. They even don’t have any recycling bin that can provide peoples to keep the environmental clean and under care or even they do have normal bin, you still can see rubbish around and this thing are not good and more improvement in the aspect of waste reduction that can make sure the the environment is always well maintained for tourists who visit it.

Tasik Biru also offers a genuine cultural experiences. As we can see at the pictures provides, it is showing the Tasik Biru’s Golden Hill Temple (Fu De Temple) that have and available at Tasik Biru. It’s showing the culture that we have in Sarawak and this are very unique because we have to climb the hill only to find the temple. The sweat totally worth it. Other we can know more about the temple there and look at it with our own eyes. Otherwise, we can see the view of Tasik Biru from the glass bridge that available there and it’s so beautiful. Tasik Biru not only give hiking’s experience, boat ride activities, but also we are able to know about other culture they have here and we able to gain new knowledge, not only having fun.

The local support such as government support where you can see at the third picture which is a the preparation of the building is on going when we arrived at that day. This thing actually come to be a prove that the government actually give their support to upgrade this place so that it gets more response and visits. Aside from that, the local businesses are also there such as the Tasik Biru Food Village and the Roxy Hotel Resort City are also provide foods, drinks and the workers are local also they are quite friendly to the customers that come to them.

Tasik Biru Today
If we are talking about tourist attraction place, of course we will imagine much more interesting activity which we will get new experience from there also such as new technology things that up to date and followed the trend because it has so many benefits for the tourist and also for the place as well.
It is interesting where’s they provide activity as boat ride or pedal ride which is you can enjoy the moment with your friends, families or even lovers together. For some people that never get ride of boat, of course they will be excited and gain new memorable moments but if we are looking at the other side, these kind of activity already available at other place and there’s nothing really interesting. So there’s no special activity that are new and unique.
Futhermore, what make us more frustrated is when we find out that this place only accept cash. No QR code, no card wise as you can see the tiny sign they show at the entrance counter at the fifth picture. This is quiet difficult for certain people who is cashless. Here we can see that this place are lack of technologies and need improvement.
