A2I (Advanced Academic Immersion) Program
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Academic Year
Q: Where do these classes meet?
A: Classes meet at IM Terrell Academy, 1900 IM Terrell Way, Fort Worth, TX 76102.
Q: Wait, I'm not a student at IM Terrell!
A: Although our classrooms are on the IM Terrell campus, the A²I program is not a part of the IM Terrell school. The A²I program is open to students at all FWISD high schools and participation does not require changing schools or enrolling in a new Gold Seal program. If you participate, you come to the IM Terrell campus in the morning for your A²I class(es) and then return to your regular high school for the rest of your classes.
Q: How do I get to class?
A: Busses are provided before and after each class period to get you to and from IM Terrell. If you ride the bus to A2I for period 0, the bus can pick you up from the FWISD high school that is closest to your home (even if that is not the school that you attend). If you ride the bus to A2I for period 1, the bus can pick you up from the FWISD middle school that is closest to your home. You may also provide your own transportation.
Q: What time are the classes held?
A: A²I classes meet in the morning.
Period 0 meets at 7:00am every school day (Monday-Friday).
Regular school day classes follow the FWISD traditional high school bell schedule.
Periods 1 and 2 meet on A and C days.
Periods 5 and 6 meet on B and C days.
Q: I heard something about distance learning...
A: Due to the difficulties arranging in-person attandance on the C day schedule, all C days are held online via distance learning. Additionally, if you have a legitimate reason why it would not be possible to attend class in person, any course may be taken entirely via distance learning with approval from both the course instructor and the FWISD Director of Mathematics.
Q: When will the registration form be available?
A: Our goal is to have the schedule of classes completed by the first week of April. When the schedule is ready, we will send a letter to your house (and possibly an email directly to your FWISD student account) with information about the course schedule and a link to the online schedule request form. Even if you register for A2I directly with your counselor, please be sure to fill out the online form as well so that we have your contact information and we know whether or not to arrange bus transportation for you!
Q: What if I sign up for A2I classes and then change my mind?
A: Like all high school classes, you must request a schedule change from your counselor within the first 10 days (two weeks) of the semester. After that time, you’re stuck with whatever classes (both A2I and regular) are on your schedule.
Q: Do I get college credit for taking A2I classes?
A: The A2I courses are not dual credit classes. If the class is an AP course, you may obtain college credit by earning a qualifying score on the AP exam.
Q: How will these classes affect my GPA?
A: A2I classes are all on the 5.0 weighted GPA scale and are included in your GPA calculation. Each course and the grade that you earn will be listed on your transcript exactly like courses taken at your regular campus.
Q: Hey, this FAQ didn’t answer my question!
A: Sorry about that. If you still have questions about A2I in general or about specific courses that we offer, you can contact us directly. We’ll get back to you with an answer.
