Who are we?

Many students in Guatemala face enormous challenges in the classroom. Most primary school teachers only have a secondary education and haven't received training in modern teaching methods. Furthermore, they receive very little support, and classrooms often lack basic resources like books.

That's where after-school mentoring comes in. It gives children the extra support they need to stay motivated, improve their skills, and feel believed in, even when the school system fails them.

We have fostered economic development and financial autonomy in a sustainable way, promoting entrepreneurship, training and empowerment through motivational talks on personal development, human rights and violence prevention, for single mothers and adults who have difficulty obtaining formal employment, as well as improving their opportunities and income with workshops on technical and entrepreneurial skills.

Nutrition is one of the most serious problems in Guatemala. Due to insufficient income, families rely on diets with little nutritional value to survive. No one should have to choose between feeding their children and sending them to school.

ASOVIDA has contributed to access to basic health services, promoting preventive and curative medical care, establishing health, hygiene, nutrition, and preventable disease brigades, and providing essential medicines to various communities, thanks to national and international volunteers and partnerships.
