Meet Our ASM Country Ambassador to Bangladesh
We are honored to introduce Prof. Dr. Mohammad Minnatul Karim, the ASM Country Ambassador to Bangladesh, a distinguished academician and an inspiring leader in microbial sciences.
Prof. Dr. Karim completed his BSc and MSc in Microbiology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, followed by a Master of Agriculture from Yamaguchi University, Japan, and a PhD from Tottori University, Japan. Currently, he is serving as a Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Islamic University, Kushtia-7003, Bangladesh.
A dynamic researcher and an exceptionally supportive mentor, Prof. Dr. Karim continuously motivates his students to think critically, innovate boldly, and pursue excellence in research. He strongly believes in the power of collaborative work, emphasizing that teamwork not only makes research easier but also far more meaningful and impactful.
His vision, mentorship, and commitment to collaboration are shaping the next generation of scientists and driving positive change in biotechnology and microbiology.
Meet Our ASM International Young Ambassador
We are proud to introduce Md. Zakariya Alam Bappi, ASM International Young Ambassador, a passionate young scientist and emerging leader from Bangladesh.
Md. Zakariya Alam Bappi completed his BSc in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering from Islamic University, Bangladesh, and is currently pursuing his MSc in the same department. A highly dynamic and motivated individual, he has earned numerous awards at national and international conferences for presenting his research work.
Beyond academics, he has actively worked with more than 21 national and international organizations, serving in impactful roles as a Campus Ambassador. His contributions extend beyond education into social engagement, where he has successfully organized multiple awareness programs and disease screening initiatives, reflecting his strong commitment to community health and science outreach.
In recognition of his outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and social impact, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) selected him as an ASM International Young Ambassador—the first time a student from Bangladesh has achieved this prestigious position.
