Asif is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of York. Prior to that, he was an Associate Lecturer and Teaching Fellow/Scholar in the Department of Economics and Related Studies at the University of York, United Kingdom.   

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree, major in Economics and Finance from North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance from the Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom and PhD in Economics from the University of York, United Kingdom.

His PhD was supervised by Professor Gulcin Ozkan and his thesis is titled “Essays on Business Cycles and The Causes and Consequences of Procyclical Policies”.

He is affiliated to the Macroeconomics & Finance Cluster and Political Economy at the Department of Economics and Related Studies at the University of York.

He is also involved in the educational outreach programme (Royal Economic Society, RES Annual Public Lecture 2018-2021) at the Department of Economics and Related Studies. The RES Annual Public Lecture’s purpose is to demonstrate to students "WHAT ECONOMISTS REALLY DO" at Sixth Form Colleges and Schools that the subject of economics is as exciting as ever.
