Third South Asia Workshop in Aquatic Microbial Ecology

Aim of the workshop

The general objective of the two weeks programme on thematic school ASIAME3 is to bring together young environmentalists (students and scientists) from South Asia and South-East Asia working in the field of the microbial ecology of marine ecosystems focusing on both fundamental (biogeochemical cycles, biodiversity, environment) and applied (aquaculture, marine biotechnologies) aspects. This school mixes conferences, practical training, and data analysis. It also includes preparation of research projects and future collaborations.

The official language will be English. ASIAME 3 will combine during two weeks four important components:

Costs

Attendance to the ASIAME workshop and accommodation (hotel and food) are entirely free of charge for the selected participants. 

In addition, ASIAME will offer small grants in order to take in charge part of travel expenses for a limited number of participants. 

Who can apply? 

The number of participants to the workshop will be 20 young post- graduates and researchers from south Asian countries including Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam. Financial support will be allocated to the students to cover part of their travel expenses. Each participant will be requested to give a 5 min presentation (+ 5 min discussion) about her/his current research. Participants will have to stay for the whole duration of the course. 

Selection of applicants.

Applicants will be selected according to their academic CV and potential for achievement reflected in their application proposal. The limited number of attendees is necessary to ensure high quality training sessions that will include hands-on training.
