Dr. Ashutosh K Singh
Hello!
I am a material scientist with experience in synthesising and designing nanomaterials for applications such as energy conversion, storage, sensors, and optoelectronics. I am well-versed in translating laboratory-level research findings into prototypes and large-area devices for industry interactions. I have a good track record of working closely with industries to develop projects. I am also adept at developing new laboratories and facilities.
I am working as a Scientist at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences in Bangalore, India. I was previously a Project Scientist in an industrial project and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the group of Professor G.U. Kulkarni. I completed my PhD in Condensed Matter Physics and Material Sciences with Professor Kalyan Mandal of the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in Kolkata, India.
My current research focuses on the fabrication of hybrid nanostructures (nanowires, nanorods, nanotubes, nanocubes, core-shell nanowires, etc.) and their multifunctional properties (electronic, magnetic, optical, electrochemical, photoelectrochemical, etc.), as well as developing high-power density, high-energy density, eco-friendly and low-cost energy storage systems such as supercapacitor systems. Additionally, I am developing low-cost techniques for fabricating large-area transparent conducting electrodes (TCE) using physical and chemical processes such as crackle lithography, physical vapour deposition, and sputtering. I am also developing various TCE prototypes to demonstrate their practical applications, such as defoggers, smart windows, and invisible EMI shielders.
My key strengths include the following:
• Expertise in Physical science and engineering-based research
• Experience in synthesis and characterization of materials through chemical route
• Experience in handling large instruments, characterization tools like film deposition, microscopy
• Work experience in a clean room
• Excellent computational and analytical skill
• Experience in photolithography, e-beam lithography, SEM, sputtering instruments
• Experience in project supervision
• Laboratory management, purchase and maintenance of big equipment
• Active participation in new idea-driven research
• Group work, leadership and decision-making ability
• Demonstrated experience in independent research, development and presentation
• Demonstrate a good level of understanding in Electrochemistry, Material Sciences, etc.
• Demonstrable experience and skills in networking and representation
• Good communication skills, capable of speaking in public
