Potential Participants For My Final Research Project:
Social Media Followers (women)
How will I have access to these people?
I am very active on social media platforms, so communicating with followers and mutuals would be easy through polls and stories.
What research topic/question will I have?
Have you ever been a victim of harassment at the hands of a man?
What interest do I have in this?
I have experienced harassment myself and I would like to know if that is a universal experience for women.
Students living on campus
How will I have access to these people?
I live on campus in Euclid Commons, and through connections with other on-campus residents and RA’s, I could reach out to other students living on campus.
What research topic/question will I have?
Do you feel safe (in any capacity, whether that be from Coronavirus or anyother potential danger or threat) on campus?
What interest do I have in this?
As a student who lives on campus and attends classes on campus, I constantly worry about my safety and about whether or not there are enough measures in place to protect me, especially during a pandemic.
Social Media followers (aged 18-22)
How will I have access to these people?
I am very active on social media platforms, so communicating with followers and mutuals would be easy through polls and stories.
What research topic/question will I have?
Do you think social media has had a negative impact on your self image and mental health?
What interest do I have in this?
I have experienced first hand how social media and it’s ideals and expectations can affect the way I see and think about myself.
My final choice for a participant pool and research question was group number three, with the participants being my social media followers being aged 18-22 and the research question asking about the effects of social media on body image.
I did not change anything regarding the content of this research activity; however, I did organize it into an infographic alongside the original version of the list of potential participants.
This research activity allowed me to get a jump start on my next big project- my research study and research paper. This was a great way to organize my thoughts and ideas so I could make a decision on who and what I'm going to study.
