Dr. Ashley E.Q. Spencer

ABOUT

My name is Ashley Spencer.  I was born and raised in the St. Louis area.  After graduating high school, I attended Lindenwood University and Indiana University - Bloomington before graduating with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 2009.  Upon graduating, I took a teaching assistant position at an elementary school in west St. Louis County and began working on my Master's in Elementary Education and K-12 Special Reading at UMSL, graduating in 2011.  In 2010, I began teaching fifth grade, and after five years, I moved down to teach fourth grade from 2015-2021 in the same school.  Meanwhile, I was a part of the Math in Residence II Federal Grant from 2014-2016 in which I received graduate credit from Maryville University for three years worth of math professional development in cooperation with the Parkway, Hazelwood, and Valley Park School Districts.

In 2018, I applied for and was accepted into the National Professional Development Grant Program for students pursuing a master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at Webster University, graduating with my second master's in 2020.  This interest in TESL, coupled with my love of travel and meeting people around the world inspired me to pursue my Educational Doctorate Degree with a focus in Transformative Learning in the Global Community through Webster University, a program I began in August 2020.  I completed that degree in May 2023.  During the 2022-2023 school year, I transitioned to teach 4th grade in the School District of Clayton, where I am still working currently.

In my free time, I love to travel, read, try new restaurants, and spend time with family and friends.  My husband and I live with our cats in St. Peters, Missouri.  We love wine, coffee, and craft beer, exploring the city, learning new things, and planning our next adventure around the world together.
