I conducted user interviews, a competitive analysis and a survey better to understand outdoor enthusiasts' needs, habits and frustrations. Here are a few takeaways:

I followed a user-centered design process to turn research into a simple, helpful and visually engaging experience.

I decided to focus on hierarchy and include a search feature and filter options. This sketch shows the result of a recent search performed by a user. This would improve the experience because it addresses the user's need to learn about hiking and trail details at a glance.

Next, I sketched a more detailed version of the design I chose from my rapid sketches.
1. Visual representations set the tone for what hikers will expect.
2. An at-a-glance feature gives users quick access to trail amenities and features.
3. User feedback establishes hikers' preparedness and trust.

Then, I took my design into Figma to create a more detailed version of the screen.
1. Visual preview helps acclimate hikers to new areas.
2. Gamification/user reviews allow hikers to more easily plan trips.
3. Feature highlights give users the ability to create a trip itinerary.
