Ascot Shed is more than just a community workshop – it’s a creative hub where locals come together to learn, share, and socialise while working on practical projects. Since opening our doors in 2021, we’ve welcomed over 65 members, and word is spreading fast. But this is just the beginning.
We’ve put together a pretty solid woodworking workshop, kitted out with donated tools, machinery, and materials. And now, we're turning our attention to other parts of the building, making upgrades and expanding our facilities to take on even more exciting projects.
The future is bright at Ascot Shed, and we’re constantly building, improving, and thinking bigger. Our long-term goal? To offer the widest range of volunteer-run workshop facilities in the UK.
Here are just a few of the activities we’re planning to support:
Woodwork: Carpentry, furniture and cabinet making, wood turning, carving, mould making
Metalwork: Cutting, welding, fabrication, precision engineering, machining & CNC
Model Making: Working with wood, metal, plastic, 3D printing, laser cutting, engraving, line bending, and vacuum forming
Materials: Woods, metals, glass, silicone, latex, acrylic, Foamex, clay, and glazes
Finishing: Sand/bead/soda blasting, electroplating, spray painting
Upholstery: Furniture renovation and upcycling
Vehicle Maintenance & Restoration: Including bodywork
Electronics: Fabrication, diagnosis, repair, and microcomputer programming
