Ph.D. positions
The Autonomous Systems and Control Lab (ASCL) at the University of Alabama is continuously looking for motivated Ph.D. students in the areas of control, autonomous/intelligent systems, and machine learning. Specific research directions include but are not limited to
Data-driven modeling and control
Nonlinear, robust, and adaptive control
Planning and control under uncertainties
Resilient autonomous systems
Applications in transportation (e.g., urban air mobility), logistics (e.g., package delivery), and environmental monitoring
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
Strong background in at least one area of control theory, machine/reinforcement learning, aerospace systems, and robotics.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication (both verbal and written) skills
Good programming skills in Matlab, Python, and/or C++
Experience publishing papers in top journals and conferences
