The Autonomous Systems and Control Lab (ASCL) at the University of Alabama is continuously looking for motivated Ph.D. students in the areas of control, autonomy, and machine learning. Specific research directions include but are not limited to
Nonlinear, robust, and adaptive control theory
Certified learning-based control and decision making
Resilient autonomous systems under extreme scenarios
Applications in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)
Aerial robotics
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in ME, ECE, AE, CS, Applied Math, or a related discipline
Strong background in at least one area of control theory, machine/reinforcement learning, applied math, aerospace systems, and robotics.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication (both verbal and written) skills
Good programming skills in Matlab, Python, and/or C++
Experience publishing papers in top journals and conferences
