LEARNING RESOURCES

Hello, everybody! My lovely Ascendants! I'm aware that recently a lot of people have been teaching themselves Ancient Greek. It feels like a sort of renaissance. I think this can be accredited to the sudden boom in accessible mythological re-tellings. Whatever the cause, it fills me with joy. Below are some resources to help you learn!

There are a total of two sections on this page - one with places where you can read texts and one with places you can learn to read texts. Many of the websites and apps in the latter have English and other foreign translations of Ancient Greek texts as well, which I hope may be useful to people who are not interested in learning. All websites, etc shown here are free.

LEARN TO READ

Some apps I recommend are:

I personally never used this, but my brother asked me to add Perdisco onto here. It's brilliant for rote learning, apparently.
Logeion - a brilliant and vast dictionary for Latin and Greek. There's a website version as well, which I have linked below in this section.
JACT Vocab is an absolutely brilliant app. If you're using the Cambridge University Press textbook "Reading Greek" by JACT, this really helps. It has nearly 1300 virtual flashcards - the entire vocabulary to be memorised in the textbook.
Hoplite Challenge is a brilliant verb conjugation game.

This isn't a website, it's an app, but I've heard a lot of good things about SPQR. Same with LP Ancient Greek. You can find a list of apps similar to this at http://www.libphil.ca/
Ancient Greek Paradigms and Ancient Greek Reference have also been recommended to me. I don't know much about them, though.

http://atticgreek.org/ is a textbook introduction specifically for Attic Greek. It has links to vocab words on the language app Memrise as well. The Memrise doesn't have the declensions of the words, though.
For Koine Greek, we have https://dailydoseofgreek.com/ - the explanation is literally in the link. It has sentences from the Bible to help you learn Koine. I don't know much about this, but SBL has been recommended to me. Apparently, it's similar. This is a brilliant website to help refine your handwriting. The author has also released many resources to help learn Modern Greek and a few on Ancient Greek as well. I'd recommend you check those out.

This website was mentioned above as it also has an app version. It is a brilliant and vast compilation of many dictionaries. Morpho is a companion to this and it will tell you all the possible forms for a word.

Another great dictionary with an extremely user-friendly interface is this.

This has vocabulary lists for selected texts.

This has free textbook downloads. It also has exercises and various resources for learning.

Some apps I recommend are:

Bellerophon - a brilliant and vast database of ancient texts, including Greek ones. Often offers both the original and translation.
Attikos - an Ancient Greek reading app, with in-text access to morphological data, etc. Recommended by @dominic-w113 on Tumblr.

Some paid websites I decided to feature are:

The Loeb Classical Library - to this day, it is one of the English speaking world's most vast and accecible collection of classical texts.
Thesaurus Linguae Gracae - this is also extremely vast, and you can access a small part of the collection for free.

Dickinson College Commentaries has Greek texts with explanatory notes, essays, vocabularies and more!

Universities such as University of Houston have many resources. Here is an example.

This online text reader allows you to read texts with the Classical Greek and translation side by side.

This online database is absolutely brilliant! You can read a plethora of texts, including those in Ancient Greek. Along with this we also have the Scaife Viewer. I have been told that the Diogenes Viewer is very similar to this, except you can download texts. Unfortunately, to get the full version, you need to download TLG and PHI Greek and Latin databases.

A digital collection of the fragments and testimonies of the works of Greek historians and other ancient authors.

The Theoi Project is quite famour for its information on Greek mythology, but did you know it had a database of classical texts as well?

This contains texts that Ian Johnston has translated and put online for free. It doesn't have a lot but all the translations are reasonably recent and well done.
