Alternative Spring Break Outreach (ASBO) is a student-developed, student-run, community service organization.
Our mission is to promote civic engagement, self-reflection, social activism, and lifelong learning. Members are able to experience growth by integrating educational reflections and discussions along with direct service at the local, regional, and national levels.
Members are immersed in purposeful service trips designed to connect with peers and community members, which provides a unique opportunity for personal growth and mutual awareness.
Local Volunteering Throughout the Semester
We participate in local volunteering opportunities and team building activities throughout the school year to grow and help our community at Stony Brook. These locations are on Long Island and we arrange travel for those who need.
Spring Break
ASBO offers a unique and memorable experience by providing members with the opportunity to experience service outside the local area through a week-long service trip to another state in the continental United States.
We travel to a location in need and volunteer with a nationally recognized organization for the entire week.
Join us in our mission to support local communities through volunteering, outreach, and peer engagement. Together, we can foster relationships that uplift and empower those around us.
We hold General Body Meetings every other Monday at 7pm in Frey 309, as well as go on local service trips and host events on campus.
