I am an applied economist working on environmental economics, transport economics, climate policy, and applied econometrics. My research examines how public policies and economic activity affect environmental outcomes, with particular emphasis on air pollution, CO₂ emissions, energy use, and urban mobility. My current research focuses especially on the environmental effects of the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and on the evaluation of urban transport and environmental policies using applied econometric and causal inference methods.
I am a Professor of Economics and Researcher at the Department of Economics and Economic History of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and at the Business Department of Universitat de Manresa. I received my PhD in Economics from Universitat de Barcelona in 2016, under the supervision of Joan Calzada.
My research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), including Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Journal of Environment & Development, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, and Water. My work has covered topics such as access to water and cleaner household energy, urban transport and air pollution, public transport disruptions, bus network design, and, more recently, carbon pricing and the EU ETS.
As a teacher, I have taught introductory and advanced courses in Microeconomics, as well as introductory courses in Macroeconomics, International Economics and, Industrial Organization at undergraduate level. My teaching evaluations have consistently been very positive and are generally above the averages for both the university teaching staff and the Economics programme, with overall scores typically between 8.5 and 9.5 out of 10.
I also regularly serve as a referee for international peer-reviewed journals, including Energy Economics, Journal of Transport Geography, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews: Water, Environmental Development, Energy for Sustainable Development, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Sustainability, Land, Resources, Water, Society & Natural Resources, and International Journal of Social Economics.
