Field Trips and Extra-Curricular Activities

Official recommendations by the Associated Students:

• Strike “gender-appropriate rooms.”

• Let students self-assign to a room where all parties mutually consent to room together via a written form.

• Advisors should not consider sex, gender expression, gender identity, or sexual orientation when assigning students to rooms.

• Advisors should have the ultimate call to assign unmatched students and should be informed of all room changes — ensuring mutual consent by all parties involved.

Formation of Student Clubs

Official recommendation by the Associated Students:

• Associated Students agrees with the proposed changes to AR 5430.

On-Campus Events by Student Organizations and Clubs

Official recommendations by the Associated Students:

• Setting a different timeline for in-person and online events.

• Establishing quantifiable criteria to determine which events are considered big and small.

• Allowing outdoor evening events.

• Lowering the number of weeks required for an event proposal.

Enrollment and Scholarship Standards for Participation in SMC Student Government

Official recommendation by the Associated Students:

• Lower the minimum unit requirement for Participation in SMC Student Government to 5 units.
