When choosing/ formulating your team, try to group three members per team group. When choosing a team, think about art-direction, your contribution and team talent balance. When formulating a team with either 2 members or 4 members please run by the instruction team and explain the reasoning. Throughout the first few weeks pay attention to classmates’ work and interests and find a team that shares your interest. Developing interactable 3D game consists of various art components: 3D modeling, audio, animation, game logics and lighting. Each Team will have 3 members to do all that. Each member will be responsible for a specific aspect of team development. Although the team project will be evaluated as a whole, you will be graded on your responsibility–completion of your assigned domain and overall contribution.
Lead Developer: Finding a suitable solution and implementing features in Unity game platform. Lead Developer focuses on game logic and backend of the project development. Lead developers often: provide sufficient logic and reasoning within the simulation. This individual is familiar with technology and helps the team transfer the team vision to exceptionable.
Version Controller: Maintaining GitHub repository, Unity folder, Asset Packages and will be responsible for submitting assignments, making file package. This individual must be detail-oriented and navigate through the configuration to meet the specification. This individual must work closely with the Project Manager and Lead Developer to provide, backup and check configuration in a fast-paced environment.
Project Manager (PM): Planning timelines and organizing meetings and focusing on the completion of the overall project. This individual is responsible for finding the right resources for the team, such as 3D assets and package for the project. PM is responsible for communicating between the instructor and the team and must be able to convey the project's vision and idea. Lastly, written documentation and final submission will be conducted by PM. PM will reinforce SCRUM workflow using class Trello for the team.
While every position has responsibility, all positions must contribute and learn to program in the class. Along with team position, each student must declare one art profession where the student will contribute the most. (3D graphic designer, composer, dancer, game designer, stage designer, animator, illustrator, etc.) After week 5 students will be present with one-time position change request using this survey form–please state clear reasoning and how position transfer can benefit your current situation and the team. If in doubt, ask your instructor: be sure to ask in advance if you have any doubts about whether a certain type of collaboration is acceptable.
