As I'm currently a student at Southern Utah University and an art major, I have to do many assignments that fulfill the class and don't really fit into my niche. So, this is where I'm showcasing them.
The assignment was to create the same image in two different color schemes. The illustration, called The Little King, works best in the split-complimentary scheme (left), but for the assignment I also did a simple complimentary (right). Both are painted in acrylic on Bristol board.
This assignment asked us to use only lines to depict a feeling. I chose Apathy.

The professor created this super fun assignment to reverse the figure and ground colors and create a tessellation. I'd recently just reread The Call of Cthulu, so I figured, hey, why not do the ancient god but as a happy little guy? And thus, this piece came to be.

For this assignment, every student picked a band or movie that they liked and created a poster that represents them/it for it as the final in this course. I chose The Lumineers, particularly because I love their album Cleopatra. They have a track in there named Ophelia, and while it was the first source of inspiration for this piece, it was more the story of Ophelia herself that solidified her as the image. Cleopatra sponsors songs that talk about how we are late, how most of the worst moments of our lives are the results of people who should have known better, but how we still find some end that gives us purpose and peace. And when I read Hamlet, those are the same thoughts I had about Ophelia and her end.
