Large Interdisciplinary R&D Projects - Applying data science, AI, network science and related knowledge to different domains with a interdisciplinary approach

(2018-2022) The Gypscie framework is designed to perform the process of learning models. It manages hardware and software to offer users tools to conduct the following tasks: data Management, ETL processes, model building, model performance analytics, model sharing, data and model provenance.

Role: Vice-coordinator; Partners: LNCC, CENPES/Petrobras, UFF, and CEFET-RJ; Funding: Petrobras; Domain: Oil industry

(2018-2020) The goal of the Breastfeeding Information System (BASIS) project is to assess the impact of hospital-based breastfeeding interventions on infant health in Brazil. This assessment is performed using spatial and temporal analyses that integrate epidemiological, statistical, and data science tools.

Role: Research partner: Partners: ICICT/Fiocruz, LNCC, and CEFET-RJ; Funding: CNPq and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Domain: Public healthcare

(2017-) The National Institute of Science and Technology on Data Sciences (INCT-CiD) addresses three main research areas: (i) data management; (ii) data analysis; (iii) complex network analysis; to face the challenges that appear when confronting the large volumes of data produced in science, government, and industry. Examples of such areas include astronomy, biology, biodiversity, cyber defense, sports, Internet, urban mobility, oil & gas, health, information security, mobile communication, and education

Role: Coordinator: Partners: LNCC, CEFET-RJ, CISB, IME, UFC, UFJF, UFPR, UTFPR, ; Funding: CNPq (approved; not funded); Domain: Data science and interdisciplinary applications

(2008-2016) The National Institute of Science and Technology on Medicine Assisted by Scientific Computing (INCT-MACC) is a cooperative and interdisciplinary network composed of researchers in various areas of human knowledge (engineering, mathematics, computing, medicine and biology among others) to advance R&D activities on scientific computing applied to healthcare.

Role: Vice-coordinator: Partners: LNCC, InCor/USP, FEI, PUC-RS, UERJ, UnB, UFC, UFF, UFPB, UFPR, UFRJ, UFRN, UFSC, UFSCar, UFU, and USP; Funding: CNPq; Domain: Scientific Computing applied to Medicine, Health informatics, and Public healthcare
