The series Young at Art from Vermont Public Radio has really been inspirational to me. It focuses on young artists who are making a living and creating their art in this tiny state.
My experiences this year have been great and have made me think about the following future plans:
This summer, I am going to attend The Governor's Institute on the Arts at Castleton University, where I'll get to:
I'm also considering applying to an arts program at a Career Technical Center. At Burlington Technical Center, there is a one year program called Design Tech Foundational. This program could prepare me for Digital Media Lab and Design and Illustration. Design and Illustration is a 2-year program that looks great - it focuses a lot on art and technology.
I'm starting to think about colleges. It's pretty confusing, but I found this College Navigator web site that might be a good way to compare different colleges. VSAC also has a College Comparison Chart that might be helpful:
I'm going to talk with my parents about possibly doing some college tours soon. Here are some schools in New England that have good arts programs. There is a guide called Making the Most of College Visits that will help, too.
