APRIL HOUSTON works as the media training manager for Population Reference Bureau (PRB), a US-based research organization focused on improving the health and wellbeing of people globally through evidence-based policies and practices. Part of her job is coordinating the PACE project’s Youth Multimedia Fellowship training program for youth-led advocacy organizations.
April started her career in television production as a videographer and editor, eventually adding writer, director, and producer to her CV. (Her various skills are on display in this short documentary on the illustrious Panzi Hospital in eastern DRC.) After nearly a decade in the TV world, she discovered a new mission in life – to help well-meaning people with good ideas to effectively communicate these ideas to individuals with the power to execute on them. Working with youth changemakers is the best, as they seem to have a limitless supply of passion and enthusiasm.
April resides in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) with her partner Charlie and two small rescue dogs (Lucy and Cinco).
MANPREET DARROCH is Director of Capacity Development at YOURS – Youth for Road Safety, a global NGO for road safety operating since 2009. YOURS was born out of the First World Youth Assembly for Road Safety in 2007 under the auspices of the World Health Organization and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. YOURS represents the global voice of youth as a member of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC).
Manpreet is an award-winning campaigner has been working in youth and road safety for over ten years. He has worked globally to champion the cause of meaningful youth participation in road safety decision-making. He began at YOURS in 2009 heading up social action campaigns and developing the multi-award winning YOURS Capacity Development Programme.
Manpreet has co-led on international road safety campaigns such as #ArtforRoadSafety the UN Road Safety Week; #SpeakUp #SlowDown and #SaveKidsLives campaigns and has helped strategize the week’s focus into strong advocacy campaigns. He is passionate about arts and creativity to package content in a tone that is engaging, entertaining, empowering and educational.
CLEOPATRA KAMBUGU KENTARO (she/her/hers) is a Ugandan Transgender activist and Drector of Programmes of a regional indigenous activist fund, UHAI EASHRI that resources sex worker, trans diverse, intersex gender minorities' and LGB sexual minorities' organising in the seven Eastern African countries of Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, with broader strategic support to Pan African queer organising. She serves on the Advisory activist Board of the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice's Advisory activist Board, the Global Philanthropy Project’s Trans and Intersex working group Steering Committe, the International Trans Fund's Steering Committee and Transgender Europe's TvT TvT advisory committee .
She is also the protagonist for the world acclaimed Netflix documentary and web docu series "The Pearl of Africa", which chronicles her journey navigating health as a trans person. Her background is in molecular biology and genetics and she loves dancing and music.
JOHANNA KOUZMINE - KARAVAIEFF contributes as consultant and expert in different contexts. She has twenty years of experience from culture and creative sectors.
Since some years back she specialises in cultural relations and cultural diplomacy as well as in skill & perspective transfer from CCS to business and industry. As Marshall Memorial Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States she focused on culture and youth as economic drivers and in cultural diplomacy.
Johanna coordinates activities for the Cultural Relations Platform supporting the European Union to engage in international cultural relations.
She is a co-founder of Artisans of Innovation specialising on cross-sector eco-system development and cross-sector collaboration. Within this context she also conducts applied research on artists and their role in corporate innovation.
CHIDIEBERE IBE, BSC is a Nigerian Medical Illustrator and a professional among the few in Africa. He is the Creative Director at the Association of Future African Neurosurgeons (AFAN), Young Continental Association of African Neurosurgical Societies (YCAANS) and Creative Director and Chief Medical Illustrator of the Journal of Global Neurosurgery. He is also a Junior Committee Member-World Federation of Neurosurgeons - Global Neurosurgery. Chidiebere Ibe is passionate about contemporary illustrations of black patients. He has worked assiduously to promote the use of black skin medical illustration in medical textbooks and public health materials, this has afforded him the opportunity to be featured in WebMD/Medscape, Maryland Neurosurgery and Globalscalpels podcast and other reputable institutions globally. He hopes to pursue a career in paediatric neurosurgery and establish an association for black illustrators.
JIMSON JULIUS KIVUYO (aka GP) is a farmer, poet & musician based in Arusha, Tanzania. Working at the intersection of music, arts and food security, GP dedicates his time and talents toward preserving African youth's historical and cultural identities. Currently, he works as the Digital Campaigns Manager for Bridge Connect Africa Initiative; a non-governmental organization that inspires informed choices for adolescents and young people of reproductive age to stay safe and lead healthy lives. In the past four(4) years, he has been advocating against child marriage, promoting better youth reproductive health policies and ending harmful traditional practices in Africa.
He is a member of the Advocacy and Accountability Subcommittee for the International Conference on Family Planning 2022, a fellow of the Community Engagement Exchange program by IREX (International Research and Exchange Board), a ONE Champion by ONE Campaign and a member of the European Union Youth Sounding Board.
He also served as a coach for the Population Reference Bureau under the PACE project (Youth Multimedia Fellowship) where he taught youth-led organizations in 6 countries across Asia and Africa on how to use multimedia to push for policy advocacy in reproductive health and environment."
JAVAN THE POET, born Javan Omondi Ofula in a family of five, a lover of literature, he has kept the love on by composing poetry for personal nourishment and socio-political engagement.
After high school commenced performance of by doing socially charged pieces in different forums to champion social justice and appreciate African culture. He has performed on different stages and received various awards. He has worked with many artists and youth organizations and uses his craft to work with and empower youths in his community through music and the arts, including graffiti. He is currently working on his debut album which focuses on challenges facing young people and his community; it will include pieces in collaboration with other artists. He is co-founder of Mtoto WA Dandora an NGO in Dandor; he is founder of Hip Hop Cradle a movement that champions for growth of young artists; and also runs a company that promotes arts and artistry in slum areas.

Yafreci performed for the Launch of the 2014 UN World Youth Report and for the Opening Session of the UN’s 67th annual DPI/NGO conference. ONKWANI FRANK SANGARA (BBOY ONKWANI) is a Kenyan dance artist/ teacher based in Nairobi Kenya. He is a member of sisko crew founder of Halisi breaking project, co-founder of Mviringo breaking academy. Onkwani uses breaking an element of hip-hop to spear head community projects and empower the youth in Nairobi county and rural kisii county of Kenya by organizing breaking festivals and community workshops.

ZUHURA SENG'ENGE (THE AFRICAN LIONESS) is a creative who is a gifted poet, writer, voice artist, and singer/songwriter based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
As a poet, Zuhura's works have been featured in local and international platforms including Badilisha Poetry Exchange, African Women Writers, the Femina Magazine, and in a poetry and short stories anthology; Moonscapes. Zuhura is famously known for her captivating live performances, and she is also very actively involved in her artivism in the global social goals, using her creativity to make poetry video contents in partnership with create2030, to raise awareness, inspire and empower her community to be part of the positive change. She also gets involved in dialogues and conversations around the topics. The key highlights of her journey as a performing artist are: The Woman Scream International Poetry Festival (2013 & 2014), The East Africa Vibes Concert (2016), at the farewell party in honor of Ambassador of French to Tanzania (2017), in the IFC virtual Sustainability Exchange (2020), at the WHO x Create2030 Covid19 Arts Festival (2020), and in the Arts and SDGs Festival in 2020 and 2021.
As a creative, Zuhura is also proud of being one of 100 recognized Tanzania sheroes of 2018, and starting a local poetry initiative in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania called Poetry 255 in the year 2016 with her fellow poet Lydia Kasese. RUBY V is a social entrepreneur and multi-faceted radio personality based in Nairobi, Kenya, with 6+ years working at a fast paced media house. She is also the founder of UnKut Africa, an organization dedicated to uplifting African Hip Hop while making Nairobi the cusp of it all. The very first event UnKut the Cypher was held in December 2016 and since then UnKut Africa has become the home of Kenyan Hip Hop and one of the biggest platforms for Kenyan Hip Hop artists.

GERRY WONDERLAND is an artist from the Mathare informal settlement in Nairobi, Kenya with a passion for his community.
Gerry has been working for his community since 2016 on various projects involving community development with several youth led groups including Mathare Environmental Conservation Youth Group and Mathare Empire.
Through photography he has been telling the story of Mathare and the effects of COVID-19. Through his music, he highlights what's "real on the streets."
