The Division of Arts and Letters pursues the overall vision of the College of Arts and Sciences and the grand mission of California Baptist University as a whole.
We seek to amplify the unique talents of our undergraduate and graduate students in the Division of Arts and Letters. Our diverse programs in Communication Arts, Modern Languages & Literature, and History & Government contribute to the healthy development of students’ skills in critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication. The faculty in this division are dynamic teachers and scholars as well as mentors to students. We hope that, by exploring the dynamic human experiences in society and at cultural and cross-cultural levels, our students will strengthen their spirituality and deepen their understanding of the real world, becoming well equipped to thrive in their future professions and service to the community.
—Dr. Laura Veltman, Associate Dean, Division of Arts & Letters
The Arts & Letters Symposium is a mini-conference in which students from the different departments in the Division of Arts & Letters meet to present research, share creative works, discuss ideas, and connect across the disciplines.
The Arts & Letters Symposium launched as a virtual event during the Spring 2021 semester, moving to an in-person conference the following year. Its mission is to equip students to communicate their ideas to the public by making rhetorical choices that are well-matched to their audience.
