Artisan Collegiate Academy is a proposed tuition-free public charter school designed to prepare students for college, meaningful careers, and a lifetime of success.
The school is being developed to serve students in San Antonio through a secondary model that connects rigorous academics with career exploration, real-world learning, and access to postsecondary opportunities.
Artisan is proposed to open with grades 6–9 and add one grade each year through grade 12, pending authorization by the Texas Education Agency.
An artisan develops knowledge, practices with purpose, responds to feedback, and takes pride in creating work of lasting value.
That same philosophy shapes the Artisan student experience. Students will be expected to think deeply, solve meaningful problems, develop academic and professional skills, and continually improve their work.
At Artisan, students will not simply complete assignments. They will learn how to create, contribute, and prepare purposefully for what comes next.
Many students move through middle and high school without a clear understanding of how their education connects to their interests, future careers, or postsecondary options.
Artisan is designed to make those connections visible.
Students will receive a strong academic foundation while exploring career fields, earning advanced credit, working with professionals, and participating in authentic learning experiences. The goal is to ensure that every graduate leaves with meaningful choices and a clear plan for the future.
Artisan Collegiate Academy is designed for students and families seeking a rigorous, engaging, and purposeful secondary-school experience.
The school will welcome students from diverse backgrounds, communities, and levels of prior academic achievement. Enrollment will be open and equitable, with no academic screening or admission requirements beyond those permitted for Texas public charter schools.
Artisan will place particular emphasis on expanding access for students who have historically had limited opportunities to participate in advanced academics, career-connected learning, internships, and early college experiences.
Artisan will create multiple pathways for students to discover their strengths and pursue their interests.
Pathway opportunities will be shaped by student demand and by the programs available through San Antonio colleges, universities, technical institutions, employers, and community partners.
When a strong local opportunity exists, Artisan will work to create a pathway for students to access it.
Artisan is proposed to begin with grades 6–9 and grow gradually through grade 12.
This structure will allow the school to build a strong culture, develop partnerships carefully, and expand academic and career opportunities as students advance toward graduation.
The long-term vision is to create a complete grade 6–12 experience in which middle school prepares students intentionally for advanced coursework, college credit, industry credentials, internships, apprenticeships, and other postsecondary opportunities.
Artisan Collegiate Academy is being developed by Leader Launcher Foundation, a Texas nonprofit organization committed to expanding educational opportunity and developing strong schools and leaders.
The Foundation is responsible for guiding the charter application, establishing governance, building partnerships, and supporting the development of the proposed school.
Artisan Collegiate Academy will be built around high expectations, meaningful relationships, equitable access, and the belief that every student deserves both academic excellence and a clear connection to the future.
Students will leave Artisan with more than a diploma. They will leave with knowledge, skills, experience, and a purposeful next step.
Artisan Collegiate Academy is a proposed public charter school. The school has not yet been authorized by the Texas Education Agency and is not currently accepting enrollment applications.
