Art for Orcas Kids

MISSION  

As a program of the Orcas Island Education Foundation, it is the mission of A*OK to bring supplementary and sustainable visual literacy lessons to the students  of the Orcas Island School District. These lessons:  

• inspire creative thinking and problem solving  

• honor the discipline of art-making and craftsmanship  

• offer alternative perspectives on learning  

• tie directly into the Washington Common Core State Standards for the Arts

A*OK provides talented local artists to work with students at Orcas Island Public Schools. These teaching artists are local to Orcas Island, Washington and help to inspire students and help them bring the visual arts to life through age-appropriate projects. The opportunity for students to work with artists and create exciting works of their own can be transformative in the lives of children.
