This site is an opportunity to showcase our student artists at Dixie Canyon Community Charter. Galleries will continue to grow throughout the year. I will highlight a class per project, though the whole grade will experience the same activity. Enjoy!
We are all artists. Artists make works of art based on what they see, think, and feel. We are learning the elements of art, which are the building blocks to create art.
What is art? What does art tell us about the world? How do artists communicate their ideas? We think about and discuss the big picture.
Dixie Canyon Community Charter follows the LAUSD Elementary Visual Arts curriculum.

I'm Mrs. Shana Rosengart Ballas. I am passionate about art education. Art helps develop critical thinking skills, fosters creative problem solving, and builds growth mindset. I have a B.A. in Art from UCLA and a Master's of Art from NYU in Art theory and criticism. Welcome to a glimpse inside our classroom.
