• Watch an hour tour of the Barnes Foundation led by an outstanding docent

• Answer the following questions: 

• What are the 4 elements that Barnes used to analyze a painting?

• What did you learn about the way Barnes chose to have the art  displayed?

Watch a short video about Horace Pippin's painting Giving Thanks.

1. Watch a short video about the life of Douanier Rousseau

Assignment:

• What happened to the original Barnes Foundation?  Do you think the art should have been moved? What does this story mean for current and future art collectors?

To answer these questions I I highly recommend an excellent article written in 2011 which presents an excellent summary of Barnes' s career and the dissolution of his  original Foundation

• Watch The Art of the Steal which is a rather inflammatory and biased but fascinating film about how the Barnes Foundation ended up Philadelphia
