Predicting Enhancer-like Promoters using Epigenetic States

- Collected and processed data from various sources including ENCODE, and GEO NCBI
Created and trained ML models on the processed data to predict enhancer potential values for promoters
Estimating Three Wheeler Emissions in Urban and Rural Settings

Passive Acoustic Monitoring of Bats

Recorded bat activity at IISER Pune to study diversity of bat species in the region using Echo Meter Touch 2 Pro smart‑ phone recorder
Labelled the echolocation calls of various species of bats to carry out further analysis. A total of 6 species of bats were identified from the data
Built a Linear Discriminant classifier using MATLAB to classify the calls of different species of bats
Quantifying Moth diversity at IISER Mohali
Undergraduate Research Project (Aug 2018 - Mar 2019)

Led to the publishing of book: Moths of IISER Mohali
Set up light traps to trap moths and collect specimens. Collected 10 specimens
Dissected 3 specimens to extract and preserve genitalia for taxonomic identification
Dissected wings of around 7 specimens to help with taxonomy
Photographed moths on light traps to aid in identification
A short term study on Nesting and Parental behaviour of Indian Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri)
Summer Research Project (May - Jul 2018)
Supervisor: Dr. Manjari Jain, BEL, IISER Mohali
Analyzed qualitative differences between the nesting and parental behaviours of both sexes of parakeets
Prepared an ethogram of 11 behaviours
Carried out quantitative analysis of the 11 behaviours and analyzed the data using ANOVA
Molecular Spectroscopy
Summer Intern (May - Jun 2017)
Supervisor: Dr. K. S. Vishwanathan, IISER Mohali
Gained basic knowledge about FTIR (Fourier Transform InfraRed) Spectroscopy and conducting literature surveys
Analyzed experimental molecular spectroscopy data for HCl and derived the bond length and bond order for the molecule
Visualized and Optimized the structure of various small molecules including HCl, H2 , and HF using GaussView software
