Most of my time is spent in reading and researching, but there are spurts of time where I enjoy writing, both professionally and personally. I aim to communicate research and science in terms so that even the layman can understand what is going on in the world of science, but still be accurate enough to not promote any misinformation. More than the communication aspect, writing helps me read more things, and being able to explain things in a lucid manner makes me confident in my understanding of the same.
I worked as an intern at the Office of Communications, IISc for six months in 2021-2022. It was a lovely experience, I got to meet a lot of like-minded individuals and I got to learn from some of the best editors, writers, and sci-comm people here at IISc. In my term as an intern, I was able to publish five pieces of long and short articles in the form of Press releases (Press coverage of recent articles published by IISc scientists), Research summaries (short summaries of research papers published by IISc researchers), Lab Profiles (a deep-dive into a specific lab at IISc, what it works on and how it works), and a Connect article (Long-form articles for IISc's Connect magazine). Apart from the small stint I had at the Office of Communications, I aim to regularly (not so regularly now a days, I guess) write blogs and tutorials in a wide range of topics covering programming, data science, biology, physics, mathematics, and some arts and literature. Below are different outlets where I publish posts regularly or at least in bursts of engagement over the years.
Byte-Sized-Code is a platform to help people learn about programming and coding. I post articles and tutorials on different topics in programming, data analysis, and sometimes also on creating fun games using mostly Python.
Stat-Man is a platform to explore more about statistics and the aim of this platform is to write articles that inspire people to learn more statistics. It also serves as a place to talk deeply about statistics and delve into some complex topics that one might encounter in the field. Although currently it has very few articles, some of them are in the writing, to be published soon.
