Employment / Internship
Employment:
Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, France (June 2022 - Present)
Research Engineer on the project EASI-STRESS (European Activity for Standardisation of Industrial residual STRESS characterization) responsible mainly for activities within Work Package 4:
Defining a common framework (in terms of algorithms for signal and data processing, including common data formats) for the various neutron and synchrotron-based techniques used for strain / stress measurements within the EASI-STRESS project.
Designing and developing efficient algorithms capable to process data (from raw data to results including errors analysis) for the techniques involved and cases relevant for EASI-STRESS. This work is based on former work achieved for neutron diffraction (VAMAS-TS165, ISO 21432:2019, SINE2020 and BrightnESS²) and aims to extend the framework to the various synchrotron and laboratory X-ray set-ups. The interoperability of these protocols and algorithms will be demonstrated using round-robin tests.
Coordinating the development of the common software package SOFT-AIS (“SOFTwareAnalyser for Industrial Stress”) which calculates strain / stress values from reduced neutron and synchrotron-based data while also guaranteeing consistent reporting of results in addition to allowing comparison to stress values from Finite Element Modeling - software.
Collecting and analyzing neutron strain scanning data at / from different facilities (ILL, PSI, ISIS) representing well-defined industrially relevant reference components.
Laboratoire de Cristallograhie et Sciences des Matériaux & Laboratoire Catalyse et Spectrochimie , Caen, France (July 2020 - Feb. 2022 & April - May 2022)
Studying the local structure of selected high temperature polymorphs of CaTeO3. For this we are utilizing diffraction and total scattering data (neutron and X-ray) in combination with solid state NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations.
Structural studies of modified zeolite materials based on different framework types (CHA, RHO, and BPH) using X-ray diffraction and X-ray total scattering.
Developing procedures for collecting X-ray total scattering data on a Rigaku SmartLab diffractometer. Subsequent Pair Distribution Function analysis with small box and big box modelling. Collecting diffraction data mainly with the SmartLab from different types of samples ranging from powders, thin films, alloys, to suspensions in capillaries. Responsible for the upkeep of the instrument as well as the installation and maintenance of sample environments such as temperature chambers (Anton Paar: HTK1200, XRK900; OxfordCryosystems: PheniX). Also working on the implementation of a multi-modal gas delivery system and its integration with the SmartLab diffractometer. Additionally, performing non-ambient measurements on other diffractometers, for example, in-situ low temperature gas adsorption (Anton Paar: TTK450) with a PANalytical X'Pert 1 diffractometer.
