Kee-Ho Yu received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Jeonbuk National University, Jeonju, South Korea, in 1988, and 1990, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1994.
From 1994 to 1997, Dr. Yu was a Research Associate at Tohoku University, and became a Lecturer in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Jeonbuk National University, in 1998, where he has been a Professor since 2009. From 2004 to 2005, he was a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MA, USA. Dr. Yu served as a Vice Dean of Planning Office, Jeonbuk National University from 2005 to 2006. He also served as the Director of Graduate Education Project for Aerospace Technology, Jeonbuk National University from 2009 to 2015. He also served as a review board of the National Research Foundation(NRF) for the field of space technology and unmanned vehicle systems from 2019 to 2022. His research interests include design of solar-powered UAV for sustainable flight, design of lunar/planetary exploration rover for vehicle mobility, applications of multicopter drone, and tactile display and its applications.
Dr. Yu is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) and the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems Engineers(ICROS), and also he is a member of the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences(KSAS); the Korea Robotics Society(KROS); the Robotics Society of Japan(RSJ); and the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers(SICE).
Dr. Yu was vice president of the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems Engineers and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Magazine of the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems Engineers and was an Executive Director of the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems Engineers, and also he was an Executive Director of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers from 2015 to 2016. Dr. Yu served as an organizing committee member of international conferences, such as ICCAS and ICMIT, etc. Dr. Yu was an editor of the Journal of Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems from 2006 to 2009, and he was a guest editor of special issue for HCI/HRI of the Journal of Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems in 2007.
Dr. Yu is a recipient of the outstanding paper award of 2009 International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems; the best paper award of 2015 International Conference on Mechatronics and Information Technology; 2021 Ko Myung Sam Academic Award (ICROS).
Dr. Yu is the Director of the Aerospace Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory and the Future Air Mobility Research Center, and he is currently working for Design of Solar-Powered UAV and Planetary Exploration Rover.
