November 2021 - New release in Geosphere

If you are interested by the geological record of deep accretion and tectonic erosion processes along active margins, feel free to have a look at this recently published paper: "The rise and demise of deep accretionary wedges: A long-term field and numerical modeling perspective". Bravo Samuel for this nice compilation of natural observations from several paleo-accretionary complexes, which also includes outcomes from new themo-mechanical experiments of subduction zone.

September 2021 - New position at Université Côte d'Azur | Laboratoire Géoazur as Assistant Professor

A great news! I have been granted for a new Assistant-Professor position in Nice (France), focusing on lithospheric dynamics. This will allow me to push forward with my current research and to start discussions for new promising works. In addition, I will take part in teaching students: a nice chalenge and a new experience.

A bit sad to leave my collegues at GFZ but a very exciting story is about to begin!

March 2021 - New release in BSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin

Here is a new paper entitled "Transfer zones in Mediterranean back-arc regions and tear faults". This work gives an overview of the nature, geometry, kinematics and timing of crustal-scale transfer zones accomodating different block rotations in the Mediterranean realm since the Cenozoic.

Thank you Laurent for instigating this exciting discussion for having formalized it as a paper!

December 2020 - New release in BSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin

Feel free to have a look on our new paper entitled "Detailed tectonic reconstructions of the Western Mediterranean region for the last 35 Ma, insights on driving mechanisms". In this contribution, we proposed new detailed paleo-tectonic maps of the western Mediterranean region (but also of the entire Mediterranean realm) since the Oligocene.

Congratulation Adrien (and Laurent) for this very attentive compilation work!

08 May 2020 - DeTect Talk Series

The DeTect Talk Series aims at gathering the international scientific community interested in crustal deformation for weekly seminars (free access via Zoom platform). On Friday, 08th May (3pm GMT), I will give a presentation entitled "The long-term breathing of fore-arc margins: a critical interplay between fluid flow, megathrust strength and tectonic underplating".

Feel free to attend this talk (and other scheduled meetings) via this link!

04-08 May 2020 - Online EGU General Assembly 2020

Despite travel restriction, let's take the opportunity of virtual scientific sessions via EGU's "Sharing Geoscience Online". In particular, we can meet at session GD5.1 "Subduction dynamics from surface to deep mantle" on Wednesday , 06th May (8h30-10h15).

April 2020 - New release in Tectonics

Finally our new paper entitled "Pre-orogenic folds and syn-orogenic basement tilts in an inverted hyperextended margin: the northern Pyrenees case study" has just been accepted in Tectonics. This study reports new field observations, Raman spectrometry acquisitions and paleomagnetic data highlighting the pre-orogenic structuration of the Chaînons Béarnais (North Pyrenean Zone) during the Mesozoic rifting event.

Bravo Esther!

April 2020 - New release in Nature Communications

Here you may find our new paper entitled "Transient stripping of subducting slabs controls periodic forearc uplift". This contribution proposes that transient basal accretion events along active subducion zones are responsible for vertical topographic oscillations with a Myr-long periodicity in the fore-arc domain.

Feel give to give me your feedback about it!

July 2019 - New release in Scientific Reports

See our new paper entitled "Stress-driven fluid flow controls long-term megathrust strength and deep accretionary dynamics". This study evidences the link between fluid flow, interface strength and accretionary dynamics along the subduction channel, using high-resolution numerical modeling.

Feel free to have a look on it!

February 2019 - New release in Tectonophysics from Vincent Roche et al.

See our new paper entitled "Slab fragmentation beneath the Agean/Anatolia transition zone: Insigths from the tectonic and metamorphic evolution of the Eastern Aegean region" and providing new geological, structural and metamorphic data in Dodecanese and Fourni islands (Eastern Anatolia).

Good job Vincent!

January 2019 - Attending the next TOPO-EUROPE 2019 conference

See you the 5-10th May 2019 (Granada, Spain) to the workshop organized by the ITN SUBITOP on understanding subduction zone topography through modeling.

December 2018 - Research fellowship sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

I was awarded a Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellowship for research on transient dynamics of tectonic underplating in subduction zones. This project including field works and numerical modeling will start in August 2019 at GFZ Potsdam, in collaboration with Onno Oncken, Johannes Glodny and Taras Gerya (ETH Zürich).

Let's start soon this promising project!
