My Arlo wire-free camera is offline; how can I troubleshoot it?

If your Arlo smart camera is offline, then follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Press and release the Sync button on the Arlo SmartHub or base station if your camera is offline after switching to a new router or making adjustments to your Internet network. Your Arlo camera's Internet LED blinks for 10 seconds before returning to normal operation.

2. Remove and replace your camera battery, paying attention to how the camera LED behaves once the battery is replaced:

  • The LED is not illuminated. Verify that the batteries are put in the proper orientation. Double-check that the batteries aren't fully dead.

  • The blue LED flashes rapidly. A base station has been synced with the camera.

  • The blue LED blinks once. Synchronize the camera with the base station once more.

  • The amber LED blinks. Replace the batteries if necessary.

3. Check the camera connectivity:

  • Take note of how far the camera is from the SmartHub, base station, or WiFi router. Your Arlo camera can be placed up to 300 feet (90 metres) away from an Arlo SmartHub or base station. If your camera is located further away from the SmartHub or base station, it may connect and disengage as a result of the distance.

  • Keep track of how many barriers there are between the camera and the SmartHub, base station, or WiFi router. If there are metal items or thick walls and ceilings between your camera and the base station, your camera may go offline.

  • Do you have a WiFi access point or other device nearby the SmartHub or base station? Your Arlo system may be encountering WiFi congestion if this is the case. Move the base station away from other WiFi devices if at all possible.

4. Check your Arlo SmartHub or base station status:

  • Your base station is linked to the Internet if the Internet LED on the base station is solid green.

  • The base station is not linked to the Internet if the LED is amber. Check to see that the Ethernet wire is connected to a LAN port. Visit to learn more about connecting base stations to the Internet. How do I troubleshoot my Arlo wire free camera that has gone offline?

5. If applicable, ensure that your camera is synced to the SmartHub or base station:

  • Check your Arlo collection for the camera's most recent recording. The camera may not be synced to the base station if the most recent footage for that camera was recorded a long time ago. Visit How do I set up and sync my Arlo Wire-Free cameras for more information on syncing your cameras.

  • Remove the camera battery and replace it. You must resync your camera if the LED blinks blue once and then does not rapidly blink blue again.
