Arjan Non
Welcome! I am a labour economist working at the Department of Economics of Erasmus University Rotterdam. You can find my cv here .
My main research interests are the effects of monetary and non-monetary incentives on employee motivation and self-selection into organizations. I usually incorporate elements of behavioral economics, which means that I take the role of personality traits and social preferences into account.
My research addressed questions like: do financial incentives such as bonuses and sales commissions increase work motivation? Or should managers use non-financial incentives such as recognition and performance feedback to motivate employees? And do HRM policies affect the type of workers attracted to organizations?
A recent second research theme is the effect of personality traits and economic preferences on academic achievement.
For instance, do personalities of fellow students in the classroom influence students' academic achievement?
