If you or a friend have been recently diagnosed with cancer, this book is intended to be an oasis from the medical procedures, tough decisions, and daily chores of getting well. This book is here to give you a safe place in the middle of the storm, and to build your strength and courage along the way. Be hopeful, be safe, and be brave. Each day is a new adventure and the twenty-six words from the alphabet are here to be your ally. This book is designed to help you be mindful during this time of treatment. It follows a similar pattern to my book, Breast Cancer: A-Z Mindful Practices. It is designed to help you think, cope, respond, and practice self-help tools that will make this journey a little easier for you along your path. You might even want to think of it as a flashlight in your toolbox. It will help you explore, examine, and expand your awareness of the many ways of coping with this challenging disease.
Breast Cancer: A-Z Mindful Practices will uplift, inspire and encourage you as you navigate this new chapter in your life, living with breast cancer. The days get long, and the decisions are endless. The wait is often terrifying and certainly frustrating. Your attention span is short, and your time is invaded with doctor’s appointments, lab tests, and possible surgeries. Astonishingly, you seem to be the only one with a sense of urgency. All the while discovering the “unique” ways your family and friends show their support. It is an exercise in grace to say the least. So here is a book, a small and simple gift written with your struggles in mind. It starts with Abundance and ends with Zest, and all of the words in-between. It is our hope these words through the alphabet will help you focus, make decisions, and encourage you to put one foot in front of the other. Sometimes it is the simplest of inspirations that keep our head above water. Additionally, there are short reflections written to direct your attention and thoughts into a positive space when negative emotions abound. Each word, crafted with the idea that you need a lifesaver, becomes a buoy, something to hold on to when the shoreline has drifted away.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, and just have no idea how to start on a personal journey of self-discovery to live a more meaningful life, then this book is for you. I am focusing on a Buddhist teaching called the Eight Pillars of Joy. I will weave in psychotherapy practices to help you move forward. In this book we'll look at each of the eight pillars and make it practical and applicable to your daily life. There will be reflective questions for you to journal your response as well as ritual and prayer exercises you might find useful. These exercises will help you focus on Cultivating Your Relationship with the Divine.
My personal journey with breast cancer and treatment until 2010
This book is the culmination of Dr. Robin B. Dilley's poignant journey to wellness after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999. Dr. Dilley's story offers a unique voice, blending her clinical insights with spiritual awakenings along her journey. She describes in detail her emotional struggle to make sense out of the disease and the medical world while showing a strong and solid reliance on her profound spirituality. Her journey introduces amazing characters that she encountered along the way as her life took on new meaning, including the development of her friend and ally, the Tiger.
This is a twenty-eight-page work personal growth workbook, harvesting life's truths from an ancient fairy tale, The Miller's Daughter. Key lessons are to be learned from the Miller, who made an impulsive deal with a stranger character and then became addicted to his wealth from the deal. The Miller's wife is voiceless and powerless through-out her few moments of fame in the story. The main character is the Miller's Daughter who learns to go out on her own trusting the goodness of others, rather than stay in an environment where her hands were severed to keep her father's wealth.
On her journey, she encounters a spiritual world that provides for her, a King who makes here silver hands, the King’s Mother who takes care of her and protects her from further harm and the Forest People. It is her journey with the Forest People where she learns to grow her own hands, even though the story keeps the secret of this process away from the reader.
This workbook provides the reader with a version of the story and an in depth analysis of each of the characters. In Archetypal psychology it is believed that each of the characters represent a part of us as well as a representation of our life as we know it today. For instance, we each have our own inner Miller, King, Daughter, and all of the other characters within us. We also can identify those characters as cast members in our personal lives.
Experiential writing exercises are provided within each section. The reader will find questions, such as:
Recall a time when an impulsive decision or deal cost you emotional and physical safety.
What did you learn from it?
What current situations are you wrestling with and want to be different?
What are your personal stories of leaving?
How have you had to trust the goodness of others?
As you reflect on the lessons in this workbook, you will come to know yourself in healing ways that will result in more personal empowerment as well as gain the clarity you need to make life-altering decisions. Download it now and start your journey toward growing your own hands.

In this little book, I am focusing on a Buddhist teaching called the Eight Pillars of Joy. I will weave in psychotherapy practices to help you move forward.
The 8 Pillars of Joy are:
1.) Perspective
2.) Humility
3.) Humor
4.) Acceptance
5.) Forgiveness
6.) Gratitude
7.) Compassion
8.) Generosity
The writing and perspective in this book belong to me, Dr. Robin B. Dilley. However, the ideas, philosophy, and teachings are part of a much bigger and deeper book called The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu with Douglas Abrams.
I saw something in these teachings I wanted to visit and integrate into my daily life in a meaningful way. So, you the reader can go from beginning to end or you can choose the word which intrigues you most and start there.
In this book we’ll look at each word, and make it practical and applicable to your daily life. There will be reflective questions for you to journal your response as well as ritual and prayer exercises you might find useful. These exercises will help you focus on Cultivating Your Relationship with the Divine.
