The goal of this event is to bring together leaders & learners from across Kansas to boost community resilience.
The goal of this event is to bring together leaders & learners from across Kansas to boost community resilience.
This is the third annual symposium for ARISE, which stands for "Adaptive and Resilient Infrastructure driven by Social Equity." Simply put, this novel project seeks to help Kansans rebound faster and suffer less from large-scale disasters. Our research is rooted in community engagement and blended with education to pave the way for statewide benefits.

Day 1 events spotlight community-engaged research and education initiatives. Expect engaging talks, demos, poster reception, networking opportunities, panels with community partners, and more.

On day 2 we will take a deep dive into ARISE research initiatives and discuss new research, education, and workforce development opportunities.

Anyone connected to the ARISE project can apply to give poster or oral presentations.
To complete the application, you will need your title, co-authors, and abstract (100 words or less).

We invite all participants involved in the ARISE project's research, education, workforce development, outreach, and community partnership efforts. This includes ARISE faculty investigators, external evaluators, graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral associates, sub-awardees, community partners, industry partners, college administrators, and advisory council members.

ARISE is a major, 5-year investment in Kansas by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). NSF uses EPSCoR to ensure every citizen has access to STEM experiences by increasing research capacity in traditionally under-funded regions of the country—like Kansas. For every dollar it invests in Kansas, the state gets back twice that in non-EPSCoR funding. Learn more: arisekansas.org .
