Professional Goals

My Career Goals

Reflecting on my time working at Marion County Commission on Youth (MCCOY), this experience confirms that I want a career in which I will be able to give back to my community. During my experience at MCCOY, I had the opportunity to further develop my skills using Microsoft 365 and communication skills. These skills that I developed will be able to be applied in my future careers.

During this professional experience, I was able to learn a lot about myself. I discovered that I really enjoyed taking the led on multiple projects as well as working independently. I also discovered that I enjoy brainstorming different project ideas with my colleagues. This was highly enjoyable since we were able to see how someone’s idea could be developed into a larger project.

Additionally, I would like to extend the sincerest thanks to the Marion County Commission of Youth for providing me with this opportunity. Without this professional experience, I would not have been able to fully confirm that this career path is right for me.

After graduating with my undergraduate degree, I plan to join the FEMA Corps in order to be able to not only serve my community but develop my leadership and communication skills. Although I do plan to go back to IUPUI after serving one year in the FEMA Corps. I plan to go back to IUPUI to obtain my Master of Science in Criminal Justice and Public Safety. My future career goal after obtaining my master’s degree would be able to work for FEMA and be a part of the task force one team. I also would want to pursue opening my own non-profit in order to be able to give back to those in need in Marion County.

I would like to be able to pursue a career within homeland security one day. Thus, why I would like to partake in the London Study Abroad Program during my Junior year at IUPUI. This will help me learn more about the U.S. and U.K. National Homeland Security.
