I am a Professor in Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo, Norway, and a Senior Researcher at the Swedish Institute for Social Research at Stockholm University, Sweden.
My current research interests include social stratification and mobility, immigrant integration, and comparative studies of labor market inequality. Until recently I was the PI of the ERC-funded project ORGMIGRANT, which investigated how employers, organizational mechanisms, and segregation processes shape ethnic stratification across immigrant generations. My work has appeared in leading journals such as the European Sociological Review, Demography, Social Forces, American Journal of Sociology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Nature.
My research has featured in international media such as the Financial Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, El País, and all major news outlets in Norway. I have received competitive funding from the European Research Council, Nordforsk, Centre of Advanced Study in Oslo, Swedish Collegium of Advanced Study, and Research Council of Norway.
I am an elected member of the European Academy of Sociology and part of the Comparative Organizational Inequality Network (COIN). I have had academic visits at Princeton University and University of California, Berkeley. My Google Scholar page can be found here.
