When May Liao's undead sister broke the rules of the universe to save her from suicide, the Veil between the living and the dead was ripped. Now, as the only person able to interact with equally clueless spirits - at least before the issue worsens - May has to prevent the rip from spreading not just through the dumb town that made her want to end it in the first place, but maybe across the whole world. The only hint she has is this: Do the opposite of what caused the problem in the first place. What's the opposite of saving a life? Well, that's easy. Murder.

Kaleo Abayon hates March. March, apparently, has begun to strike back, because as soon as he begins to silently articulate the month's confusing weather patterns and unjustified existence, he is fired from his job, and his taekwondo instructor escorts him and three of his fellow second-degree black belts to a portal of toadstool mushrooms in the basement of their dojo. Apparently, this portal leads to another dimension... a dimension that needs help. Before Kaleo can reject the offer to become a Mediator, he and his friends are informed that if done correctly, the job will entail about 1.5 thousand dollars a week. 

On a mission that quickly snowballs into one much higher than even that pay grade, Kaleo must weigh the importance of helping the people in the Nova realm and improving his own living conditions in the human world. Either way, he will discover a fate that may be inescapable, no matter what he chooses.

Kaleo Abayon thought the spring had been tough. Summer was alright, but autumn brings trouble once again - and not just the season, but the place, too. The day Master Yoon’s old traitorous teammate comes out of hiding is the day everything falls apart. Yoon and Squad 128 make their way to the Autumn Court to confront him while Kaleo’s team ventures into the Spring to investigate a hotspot for mysterious disappearances. The Winter Order lays a web of traps across the belt of the Nova Realm. A conflicted Allei trains his mind on revenge... Oh, and Shuno is pregnant. What could go wrong?

Kaleo would like to say, as usual, "At least we're getting paid." He would also like to say, "I did not start a war, my team did not fall into an enormous subterrancan nightmare, and we did not endure days of magical torment with hardly a thing to show for it," but sadly, he can't say any of those things in good faith. The Mediators gear up to officially counter the Winter Order's onslaught. Old allies show unexpected support, as do some old enemies... not outnumbering those who are trying to kill them, though. Lastly, Kaleo would absolutely love to say, "This is not what I signed up for." But it is.

Right when Kaleo and his squad thought they could catch some sort of break after escaping the Spring Maze, Lady Mayema hits their captain, Jordan, with another job, this one harder than anything they could have possibly tossed and turned in their sleep about: steal the Black Pyramid from the Winter Palace right under the Order's nose. No one is particularly happy about it. Meanwhile, everyone else fights to survive throughout the Four Courts, whether against the Winter Order, nature, remaining Shadow Tie Captains, or even the Savior himself. And despite every catastrophe at play, everyone including Mother Nature has for some reason unanimously decided that the Savior is Kaleo's responsibility. At least it'll all be over after this... right?

As her mother won't speak about it and neither will the very famous Angelo Rosa, who was with Davy Lockhart on his expedition, she has no reason to suspect anyone else holds this belief, until a dreadfully familiar face appears at the Lockharts' underground club and changes everything... mostly for the worse. 

AJ and five others embark on the same quest her father disappeared on twelve years prior, through sparse urban Oases and desertified land. Meanwhile, they find themselves running from an enemy none of them could have predicted. Davy Lockhart has become secondary. All they want to do is survive.
