Volunteering with Special Olympics is an awesome and rewarding opportunity for any students/adults who need community service hours or are planning to pursue a career in education or just simply enjoy working with people with special needs. We have a wide range of volunteer needs, but here are a few quick examples:
1) volunteers for any of our invitationals and competitions
2) volunteers to be a "golf buddy" with our athletes who are capable of playing 9 holes (volunteers golf for free!) or hang out at the putting green or driving range with some of our lower skilled athletes and help them learn some basic golf skills
3) volunteers to gather balls on the tennis courts as our athletes learn basic tennis skills and/or sharpen their skills
4) volunteers to time the running events or measure the throwing events for our track athletes
These are just a few examples; the list goes on and on for all the sports that we offer! Our sports run for various "seasons" throughout the year, so the time commitment could range from a few months to year-round if you choose. We'll take whatever we can get! There is a process that volunteers need to go through with background checks, etc. but we'll guide you through the process and it's 100% free.
