COVID-19 Policies

The Arctic Rivers Project is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation, including the omicron variant, and will adjust Summit plans to prioritize the safety of our elders, families, and participants. The Summit is scheduled as an in-person event to take place at the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage on December 6-8, 2022.

COVID-19 vaccination requirement:

Full vaccination is required to attend the Summit. People will be considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the single dose of the Janssen (Johnson and Johnson) vaccine or the second dose of the Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca vaccines. Booster shots are encouraged. See information below for our exemption policy.

Proof of vaccination:

Proof of full vaccination must be provided to the Arctic Rivers Project when you register. Proof of vaccination can consist of either a photo or scan of your vaccination card.

COVID-19 testing policies for those requesting vaccine exemptions:

Attendees requesting exemptions must provide a negative COVID-19 test result completed within three days of the start of the Summit (in other words the COVID-19 test must be done after 8:00 am December 3, 2022). A second negative COVID-19 test result taken after 8:00 am on Monday, December 5, 2022 will be required for attendance on the third day.

Masking:

We are asking all attendees, even those who are vaccinated, to wear masks except when eating, drinking, or speaking. Extra masks will be available upon request.

Food:

Lunch will be provided in the form of boxed lunches. The Summit banquet on the evening of Thursday, December 8th will be plated and not buffet style. Outdoor seating for lunch will be available if you choose. There will be no outdoor seating available for the banquet, which emphasizes the importance of vaccination to protect all of our attendees and their communities.
