HOUSE OF GARDEN SPACES
DESIGN INTENT
My design revolves around the idea of a grid system and the activities of people within the spaces, particularly in the verandah and backyard. The goal was to create a continuous flow within the verandah, using grids to define various pockets of gardens and shaded areas. These grids frame activities through different planes, while incorporating passive strategies to get the comfort and create a livelier environment. The design avoids a rigid daily routine, one can have a lot of things to digest outside—when someone enters the space, they can enjoy privacy through screens while still feeling open to the surrounding environment. The space is divided into three zones: public, semi-public, and private. This organization allows for smaller, more intimate spaces to open up to larger areas, fostering a balance between privacy and openness,
The rooms feel more like those in a hostel, primarily serving basic needs. One could easily spend the whole day outside, as there's plenty to keep people engaged. The gardens add a homely touch, creating a sense of warmth and comfort. While everything is connected, each space still maintains its own sense of privacy and isolation.
