Your privacy, clearly explained.
Effective date: 26 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ArcLog handles information when you use the app on iPhone or iPad, or visit the ArcLog support website.
Your working logbook is stored on your device. Optional iCloud backup, device sync and invited roster sharing are described below. No separate ArcLog account is required, and ArcLog does not include advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
ArcLog does not transmit your logbook to the developer. If you contact support, the developer receives only the email address and information you choose to send.
ArcLog stores information you enter or import, including flight and simulator records; dates, times, routes and airports; aircraft and crew details; rosters; qualifications, totals and preferences; custom airfields; and aircraft, licence, medical, passport or visa images you choose to add.
ArcLog processes a local working copy to provide its logbook, search, calculation, import and export functions. If you enable iCloud sync or backup, relevant app data, including stored document images, is also transferred to your private iCloud storage as described below. The developer does not receive or have access to that private content.
iCloud Drive backup: optional JSON backup files are stored in your private iCloud Drive. These can include your logbook and any aircraft, licence, medical, passport or visa images you added. File backups are separate from live device sync.
iCloud device sync: when enabled, ArcLog uses your private Apple CloudKit database to keep supported app data up to date across devices signed into the same Apple Account. Apple provides the iCloud service; no separate ArcLog account is created. The developer cannot access your private logbook, documents, backup files or Apple Account credentials.
Invited roster sharing: if you choose to share, ArcLog publishes a separate, read-only copy of your display name and roster schedule for people you invite through iCloud. It does not share your private logbook, crew records, notes or document images. Recipients need ArcLog and iCloud, but do not need to upload their own roster. You can manage or revoke access. Revocation cannot recall information someone has already viewed or copied. Updates require a working internet connection and depend on Apple’s service and app activity.
Apple handles iCloud storage, account identity and sharing permissions under its own terms and privacy policy. Only share roster information you are authorised to disclose.
When you choose a roster CSV file, ArcLog reads that file so it can display and process its contents locally.
When you create a PDF or Excel export, ArcLog generates the file on your device. You decide where it is saved or which application or person receives it. Once a file is saved or shared outside ArcLog, it is handled by the destination service and is subject to that service’s privacy and retention practices.
ArcLog includes a global airport database based on public OurAirports data to assist with airport identification and logbook functions. Airport records and any custom airfield details you enter are processed as part of your local app data. ArcLog does not send this information to the developer.
To keep global airport location data current, ArcLog may periodically retrieve the public airports.csv file from the OurAirports dataset hosted through GitHub Pages. The request is limited to retrieving airport data. ArcLog does not attach or send your flights, crew records, saved custom airfields, documents or other logbook information.
GitHub may process ordinary technical connection information necessary to deliver the file under its own privacy practices.
ArcLog uses Apple-provided interfaces for document selection, sharing, iCloud, the camera, the photo library and calendars when you choose the relevant feature.
Camera and photo access lets you add aircraft or document images. Selected images become part of your app data and may be included in optional private iCloud sync or backups. These permissions do not give the developer access to your images.
Calendar sync is optional. With your permission, ArcLog creates and updates roster events in the calendar you select, including duty titles, routes, check-in and flight times and locations. If that calendar uses iCloud, Google or another provider, that provider handles the events according to its own settings and privacy practices. People you share that calendar with may also see those events. Calendar sharing is managed by your calendar provider.
You can deny or change permissions in your device’s Settings. Declining optional camera, photo or calendar access does not prevent manual logbook entry.
If you email arclog.support@gmail.com, the developer will receive your email address and the contents and attachments you choose to send.
Support correspondence is used to answer your request, investigate reported problems and maintain the reliability and security of ArcLog. Support email is handled by email providers and may remain in the support mailbox as part of the correspondence record. You may request deletion of support correspondence by contacting the same address, although information may be retained where reasonably necessary or legally required.
Do not send sensitive or unnecessary personal information. You are not required to send a logbook or backup file to receive general support.
ArcLog does not contain advertising and does not use third-party advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
ArcLog does not sell or rent logbook information.
ArcLog relies on Apple’s operating system and may use Apple’s iCloud Drive, document picker and sharing services when you select the corresponding features.
If you save or share an export through another provider, that provider processes the file according to its own privacy policy.
The ArcLog website is hosted using Google Sites, and support email is provided through Gmail. Google may process technical information necessary to provide those services under its own privacy policy. ArcLog has not added advertising or analytics tracking to the website.

Local app data remains until you delete it or remove the app’s local data. With iCloud sync enabled, supported record changes and deletions can also sync to your other connected devices. Keep an independent backup before making large changes.
Turning off sync or uninstalling ArcLog does not necessarily delete information already stored in iCloud. Private iCloud app storage can be managed through Apple’s account and device settings. JSON backup files in iCloud Drive and exported files remain separate copies until you delete them where they are stored.
Manage or revoke roster invitations in Shared Rosters to stop future access. This cannot erase copies a recipient has already made. Calendar events and copies held by calendar providers or people you shared with are governed by those services and their settings.
The developer cannot retrieve or delete your private iCloud logbook or backups for you. For information voluntarily sent to support, see section 7.
ArcLog relies on the security protections provided by iOS and iPadOS, your device passcode and, where used, your Apple ID and iCloud account.
You are responsible for protecting access to your device, Apple ID, backup files and exported documents. No storage system can guarantee absolute security, so maintaining appropriate backups is recommended.
ArcLog is intended as an aviation record-keeping tool and is not designed or marketed for children.
ArcLog does not operate user accounts or collect logbook information through a developer server. If a child contacts support and a parent or guardian wishes to ask about or request deletion of that correspondence, they can contact arclog.support@gmail.com.
This policy may be updated if ArcLog’s features, services or legal obligations change. The updated policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Where appropriate, important changes may also be identified within the app or its App Store information.
